Saturday’s chance to win big money playing Powerball is here.

The grand prize is currently at $164 million, with a cash value of $99.6 million.

Last Wednesday’s winning numbers were 7, 10, 16, 46, and 56, and the Powerball was 1. There were regular 617,221 winners, and $5,471,780 in non-jackpot money was won.

Paul Matson, a resident of Carmichael, CA, realized he was a Powerball winner almost three months after his numbers were drawn.

Matson has a habit of purchasing lottery tickets and then just putting them away in a drawer. On Thursday, he decided to check one of those tucked away tickets with a Lottery Check-a-Ticket machine and realized that he had won $671,000.

A local NBC affiliate reports Matson did not initially believe his fortune. “I thought, ‘Oh, the machine is malfunctioning,’” he said.

After insisting that the clerk also check the machine to make sure that he was really a winner, Matson was still not buying it. “You have to be kidding me,” he said.

The lucky Powerball player informed the California Lottery that the reality of his new fortune has yet to fully sink in. Matson intends to buy a new home with his Powerball money.

In other Powerball news, a Maryland woman named Carrie Groves just won $1 million after purchasing a $2 Powerball ticket.

As reported by Patch, Groves was stunned by how much she won. “I said, ‘Wait, let me count all these zeroes,’” she said.

Groves and her husband plan on buying a new house with their winnings and donating to the Maryland Food Bank as well as Toys for Tots. “We want to help some organizations that have helped us," her husband Glen said.
