Beauty queens Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Argentina have revealed that they tied the knot secretly after being in a "private" relationship for two years.

Mariana Varela, 26, from Argentina, and Fabiola Valentin, 22, from Puerto Rico, who represented their countries in the 2020 Miss Grand International competition, announced their marriage on Instagram.

According to Daily Mail, the two beauty queens posted matching Instagram Reels showing moments from their relationship as they announced that they had tied the knot.

"After deciding to keep our relationship private, we opened the doors on a special day," the caption reads in Spanish, which also included what appeared to be their October 28 wedding date along with heart and ring emojis. 

The 30-second video features snippets from their travels in Puerto Rico and Mexico, their candlelit marriage proposal, and a kiss outside a courthouse in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they tied the knot.

Before they announced their marriage, the former Miss Argentina and former Miss Puerto Rico never confirmed that they were dating. They only gushed about their "friendship" on social media.

How Miss Argentina Mariana Varela and Miss Puerto Rico Fabiola Valentin Met

Beauty queens Mariana Varela and Fabiola Valentín met at the 2020 Miss Grand International competition in Thailand. The two made it to the top 10, but neither of them took home the top prize in the beauty pageant.

Since then, they had spent time traveling together and have dropped subtle hints of their love on social media by posting a few images throughout the past 18 months before they announced their marriage earlier this week.

Fellow Beauty Queens, Fans Congratulate Miss Argentina and Miss Puerto Rico

Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera congratulated the newlywed couple. She said: "God bless your union and long live love!!!!"

Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2017 Danna Hernandez also congratulated the two beauty queens and said: "Blessings on your marriage!!!

Ghanaian singer and beauty queen Abena Akuaba, who won 2020 Miss Grand International, wrote a message for Mariana Varela and Fabiola Valentin, saying "Congratulations... MGI brought together a beautiful union."

Samantha Bernardo, a 2020 representative of the Philippines at the Miss Grand International, also shared her well-wishes for the couple.

"Omg! Congratulations sisters! Love love love!" she noted. A fan tweeted about the couple, describing the two as "so cute."

Another social media user said: "Kind of obsessed with the fact that Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Argentina just revealed that they got secretly married after meeting for the first time at the pageant."

Another fan noted that the two beauty queens' marriage "is the coolest thing to happen for the entire year." On her Instagram Stories, the former Miss Argentina expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support. 

"Thanks for all the love! We are very happy and blessed. I wish you that the love you are giving us is multiplied! Infinite thanks," Varela wrote.

In Puerto Rico, same-sex marriage has been legal since 2015 after the Obergefell v. Hodges decision of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Varela's home country, Argentina, also implements a legal same-sex marriage ruling. Recently, Mexico also approved same-sex marriage, making it officially legal in the country.

According to NBC News, some Latin American countries that legalized same-sex marriage in recent years include Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Colombia. Cuba is the ninth country in the region to legalize same-sex marriage.
