CBS 'Criminal Minds' Season 10 Episode 3 Spoilers: Plane Crash Leads to Backstory of New Cast Member Jennifer Love Hewitt's Character [Watch]
So far Season 10 of "Criminal Minds" has been filled with twist and turns, and from the looks of a new video promo, the thrills are just getting started.
A spoiler video for the upcoming episode, entitled "A Thousand Suns," is wickedly intense and dramatic. In the clip, flight passengers are horrified as they fall victim to a plane crash. However, it seems like a dangerous suspect is working behind the scenes causing multiple flights to fall out of the sky.
The next episode of the long running series will also dig deep into new FBI agent Kate Callahan's past while the BAU investigates the tragic plane crash.
Although Kate seems to fit in with the elite FBI unit, fans don't much about her backstory. However, viewers can look forward to learning more about Kate, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, after she becomes involved with the plane crash case, which jogs up old memories according to TV Guide.
Hewitt was introduced in the first episode of the new season, entitled "X." She was cast on the show in lieu of actress Jeanne Tripplehorn, who left the series in last season's shocking finale. Although Tripplehorn's character Alex Blake was one of the main characters on the show, Blake made a sudden exit after she was traumatized over Spencer Reid's gunshot injuries. As a result, she decided to quit her job on the FBI's elite Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU).
According to CarterMatt, the police procedural series released an official synopsis: "When a passenger jet crashes in Colorado, the BAU team is called to build a profile around the suspicious circumstances. Also, the case hits close to home for Kate, who is reminded of a family tragedy."
Season 10 Episode 2 of "Criminal Minds," " A Thousand Suns," will air on Wednesday, Oct. 15, on CBS.
