After a 13-year romance, celebrity couple Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton have called it quits.

E! News confirmed that the Hollywood pair has officially parted ways after spending over a decade working together and raising children. Their son Billy is 11 and their daughter Nell is 7.

"Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children," said reps for both Burton and Carter to E! News. "We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time."

The 56-year-old director and the 48-year-old actress met in 2001 while filming "Planet of the Apes," which Burton directed.

Although the couple never married, they continued to work together on a number of major production films including "Big Fish" in 2003, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" in 2005, 2007's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," 2010's "Alice in Wonderland" and "Dark Shadows" in 2012.

The unconventional partners also reside in two adjoining houses in Belsize Park, London.

Despite their split, they plan to host a traditional Christmas dinner together in the Bonham Carter/Burton household, reports the Daily Mail.

Rumors of infidelity in their relationship began to swirl in October 2013 after the New York Post published a very grainy photo where Burton appeared to be kissing a blonde woman.

In response, Carter defended her partner against the speculation and accused the Post of fabricating the report.

"This is absolutely nonsense," a rep for the actress told E! News at the time. "The pictures were taken whilst they were out and the large group includes family, friends and work colleagues."

Back in June, Carter told People magazine that their relationship represented "love" while they were attending the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion at Universal Orlando Resort with their two children.
