'Jane The Virgin' Season 2 Spoilers: Gina Rodriquez Hints that Fans Will See Jane's Strength as a Mother
During the first season of "Jane the Virgin," Jane Villanueva experienced a fair amount of relationship drama and a tumultuous pregnancy. However, there's a good chance that Season 2 of the comedy will highlight Jane's strength as a mother when it premieres on The CW in October.
As viewers may recall, Season 1 ended after Jane finally gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Mateo. However, shortly after his birth, her newborn baby was kidnapped by Sin Rostro. Fortunately, it won't be long before Mateo is returned safely to Jane.
While speaking with The Huffington Post last month, series star Gina Rodriguez teased that it is likely that Jane will evolve into a stronger person after she gets her baby back.
"Obviously, Jane is going to find out the baby's gone," said Rodriguez.
"I'm really excited to play that. I'm really excited to see what we end up deciding that experience is going to look like. But I want to see Jane's strength. And I think you're going to see Jane's strength. I'm hoping we're going to see the crazy amount of strength she has, to see Jane be a mother and not a passive aggressive one, but a very strong, forward mother. But we'll see! We'll see what happens!"
In an interview with Time, the Latina actress also revealed that she, too, was stunned when she discovered Season 1's shocking finale.
"I had no idea until the day before we started shooting," the 30-year-old actress said. "In the beginning, I was like, 'This could be crazy. How am I going to be prepared for this?'
"Then the capturing of Mateo at the end, I thought, was brilliant because it's such an amazing cliffhanger. What I am looking forward to more than anything is seeing how she resolves it, like seeing what happens to Jane when she finds out Mateo's gone. I'm actually very excited to play that. I don't know what I'm going to decide to do. She's going to find out right when we open the next episode. It must be. I can only imagine, right?"
