It was previously reported that game developer Naughty Dog is revving up for the movie version of "The Last of Us" and has partnered with renowned cult film director Sam Raimi and his company, Ghost House Pictures.

And now, in an interview with IGN during the recent BAFTA Game Awards held last March 14, the game's creator Neil Druckman revealed some important details for the upcoming film. According to Druckman, the film will be an adaptation of the game.

He confirmed, "It's an adaptation of the story of 'The Last of Us'. As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film...we're not sure yet. We're only just scratching the surface."

In line with the development of the film, Troy Baker, the actor who played the male protagonist Joel in the game, has expressed his interest in joining the big screen project in another IGN interview, even if he won't be reprising his character from "The Last of Us".

He said, "I'm 100 percent behind it. If I get a chance to be a hunter or a clicker, I'd be so happy! But even if not I'll participate in watching the film with just as much enthusiasm and excitement as if I was in it."

He even reassured hardcore fans of the game that the film project is in good hands. He continued, "From experience I trust implicitly everyone at Naughty Dog. From Christophe [Balestra] to Evans [Wells] to Bruce Straley to Neil Druckman."

Baker added, "To everyone who liked that game, you need to trust what they're doing. I know that if it wasn't going to be something that accurately represents that story, they wouldn't do it."

"The Last of Us" was released last June of 2013 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. It follows the story of Joel and Ellie as they navigate through a post-apocalyptic America after it was ravaged by a deadly virus.
