Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 Records Impressive Score in Benchmark Test With 7.9-Inch Display, 2GB RAM & More
The latest Xiaomi lineup unveiled at the recent company event is an impressive collection. One of the devices that made waves upon its launch was the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2, a combination of value and style that wowed in a recent benchmark test.
According to a report from Gizmo China, the recently launched tablet was spotted in the AnTuTu database with a score of over 85,000. Other rival devices ranked ahead are the Huawei Mate 8 and Meizu Pro, but it's pretty good company for the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 to be in.
Compared to the lauded iPad mini 4, Xiaomi's newest slate sports the same size at 7.9 inches although a little bit thicker and heavier than its Apple counterpart, according to a report from Tech Times. The Mi Pad 2 features an all-metal body that's an upgrade from the plastic body of its predecessor.
Under the hood, it's equipped with Intel's new 64-bit quad-core 2.25 GHz "Cherry Trail" Atom X5-Z8500 processor with the Intel HD Graphics GPU. Other features include 2GB of RAM, an eight-megapixel rear camera, a five-megapixel front shooter, 6,190 mAh battery cell and a USB Type-C port.
The Mi Pad 2 runs on MIUI 7, and users can choose to buy the Android or Windows 10 versions, according to a report from Phone Arena. The table is available in two variants: the 16GB phone for $156 and the 64GB one for $203. It also comes in dark gray or champagne gold.
Another device in the Xiaomi roster is the flagship Xiaomi Mi 5. Many were disappointed that the premium handset wasn't unveiled at the recent Xiaomi event, where the rest of the new products were revealed. According to a separate report from Tech Times, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun teased the fans in an interview, promising that the upcoming flagship smartphone is "worth the wait" and "very, very good."
Because it missed the event and no specs have been confirmed by the company, the Mi 5 remains mostly a mystery to the tech community. The new handset will reportedly feature a 5.3-inch Quad HD display with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution at 554 ppi. There's also word that it will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset and be fitted with 4GB of RAM and 16GB or 64GB of internal storage space. Other notable features include a 16-megapixel camera and a 3,000 mAh battery cell.
Does the Xiaomi Mi 5 sound like a great upgrade or would you rather pick up the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 for a tablet experience?
