Peruvian cops disguised as Marvel superheroes Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Black Widow have carried out a Halloween drug raid in Peru and arrested four drug dealers.
Studios in Hollywood take a great deal of heat. Critics often look at them as money making machines that have the product's financial potential in mind over the creative or artistic merit that can be derived from the situation.
At the same time, the studios bring the money to the table, enabling filmmakers to make movies that would otherwise be out of their reach.
That said, the outspokenness with filmmakers against studios has increased over the years with Josh Trank being the latest to blame 20th Century Fox for the critical failure of his "Fantastic Four" reboot.
Over the last few years, Hollywood has indulged in the reboot, an attempt to revitalize a waning franchise in order to reinvigorate the fanbase and potentially reach greater financial prosperity.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" debuted in movie theaters this past weekend. As with most films in the comic book genre, the latest installment in the franchise featured a number of fascinating visual effects ranging from its action sequences to its major villains. Latin Post recently interviewed Argentinean visual effects compositor Pablo Holcer about the process of working on the project.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is likely to be the poorest grossing "Spider-Man" movie to date. But the film will also be remembered for another first: the film is the first "Rotten" film on aggregate review site Rotten Tomatoes. Every other Spidey flick has managed to maintain 60 percent approval rating from the critics thus far. Interestingly enough, this film is not the worst of the lot from an artistic standpoint. Far from it. That honor still belongs to "Spider-Man 3." Here are a few reasons why the Sam Raimi movie is still the nadir of the beloved franchise.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is enjoyable on the strength of the performances alone, but the film unfortunately fails on a number of other fronts. The story, while showing tremendous potential and some thematic cohesiveness, does not really illuminate its characters as well as it sets out to do and at the end of the day, it comes off as a retread of a plethora of other comic book movies with the Spider-Man brand attached to it.
