‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ News: Bernie Sanders Scheduled to Appear Next Tuesday
Next week, "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" will be hosting the biggest rising star in the presidential race for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders.
According to Deadline, the Vermont Senator will be coming on "The Tonight Show" and showcasing his platform mixed in with the standard humor that Fallon usually brings to his guests.
This primary election season has been a whirlwind of ratings for news networks, talk shows and late night comedy shows. Following the theatrics of the Republican debates, viewers have flocked in drones to watch their interviews and appearances on late night talk shows.
Fallon had previously hosted Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on the show and saw a dramatic increase in ratings when they appeared. Sanders will be the next in line for the show to present to a new audience next Tuesday when he brings his political campaign to late night on NBC for the first time.
News of his scheduled appearances follows a recent poll that indicates Clinton has been expanding her national lead over Sanders by a margin of 60 percent to 30 percent, respectively.
There is also speculation that Sanders' very own doppelganger, Larry David, may make a surprise appearance on the show with the Senator, although that is unconfirmed.
David debuted his comical impersonation of Sanders on an episode of "Saturday Night Live" and fans really took to the comedy. Even Sanders enjoyed the impersonation, telling Jimmy Kimmel on his late night show that he thought David did a "pretty, pretty, pretty" good job of impersonating him. That was of course an impersonation of David, who uses the same line in his HBO show "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
With the primary elections a little over a month away, Sanders is considered the number one contender against Democratic heavyweight Hillary Clinton. He will appear on "The Tonight Show" next Tuesday, Dec. 8.
