'The Voice' Season 9 - Live Top 10 Performances [RECAP]: Korin Bukowsi Out, Madi Davis Keeps Team Pharrell Running
Korin Bukowski's uneven run on Season 9 of "The Voice" has come to a choppy end.
Entertainment Weekly reports Team Gwen performer Bukowski was sent packing after forgetting most of the lyrics to Colbie Caillat's "Try," during Live Top 10 performances, mercilessly reducing the tune to a five-word repeat chorus of "You don't have to try."
Fellow coach Blake Shelton immediately tried to comfort Bukowski, letting her know that every coach in the arena had previously suffered through the same kind of mishap she had just experienced.
But on this night, Bukowski's loss was fellow Team Gwen teammate Braiden Sunshine's gain. He survived the night by moving the crowd with a more than competent rendition of Maroon 5's "Harder to Breathe."
Joining Sunshine in next week's semifinals will be Emily Ann Roberts, Jordan Smith, Jeffrey Austin, Barrett Baber, Madi Davis, Amy Vachal, Zach Seabaugh and Shelby Brown.
It's been quite the run for Smith, who recently made it all the way up to No. 2 on iTunes, trailing only powerhouse Adele. In all, six of the competition's remaining Top 10 contestants (Austin, Roberts, Baber, Davis, Vachal and Brown) have all recently charted in the Top 10.
As for the Sunshine and Bukowski duel, the former held his slight lead over his rival for the Instant Save throughout the show, ending her run to become the first contestant in show history to advance three straight rounds via that very vehicle.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old Davis held on as the only Team Pharrell member still alive in the competition. Rival coaches Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine recently raved about her growth and maturity, with Stefani admitting she can't wait to see what the versatile lyricist will do next from week to week.
On the heels of a sterling performance by Sia, Dolly Parton is slated to serve as mentor to the contestants during next week's competition.
