CD Projekt Red has promised to keep the "Cyberpunk 2077" under wraps until its release year, but the developer is confident enough in the project that they're speaking up about the highly anticipated title. The success of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" has put the company on the radar of well-versed gamers and now they're looking at an even bigger follow-up with the upcoming RPG.

According to a report from GameSpot, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski spoke up about the game during an interview with Polish TV Station TVN24 BiS. The executive revealed the fans have a lot to look forward to in the developer's next title.

"The project is even more ambitious than we first planned (...) we need to create a game that will be even more successful," Kicinski said, adding that they'll be aiming for better results this time. "We have a long way ahead of us to reach the biggest commercial successes in the world."

He then discussed the numbers of their lauded "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt", saying it was a "good investment" but the team believes there is room for improvement with the underwhelming sales. CD Projekt Red was able to sell six million units of the game out of an $81 million budget.

"Sure, many people consider 'The Witcher 3' to be the best game in the world this year, but this is not a game that broke any sales record," Kicinski pointed out.

While it might not have achieved incredible sales results, "The Witcher" franchise was well-received by critics and fans alike. There aren't concrete details on another sequel for the brand, but Kicinski confirms that it will probably happen eventually, according to a report from Movie Pilot.

"While 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' is the end of Geralt's story, it probably won't be the last game in the series," he revealed to TVN BiS as quoted by Movie Pilot. "It wouldn't be fair to fans stop making 'Witcher' games, even if the next one is still a long time away. It's too early to talk about it, but it's not like we're forgetting about this brand, it wouldn't be fair towards the fans."

He added, "We worked within this universe for over a dozen years now and I don't think it's going to be the end of it."

It's going to be a while before the fans get to see it, though. Right now, CD Projekt Red is occupied with "Cyberpunk 2077" for 2017 and after that maybe the players will get some information on "The Witcher 4."
