Fantasy Football 2015 Rankings, Sleepers & Week 14 Waiver Wire: Top 5 NFL Players to Pick Up This Week
The waiver wire is absolutely critical for Fantasy Football owners everywhere. Staying on top of free agency can make or break your team every week. Disappointing play and injuries often lead to Fantasy Football owners checking their waiver wire to help their roster week in and week out.
Here are five players you should consider signing off the waiver wire this week.
1. Will Tye
The New York giants are a complete mess right now. Losers of their last three consecutive games, the Giants have been plagued with injuries, especially targets to throw to. Larry Donnell has missed the last four consecutive games and Will Tye has stepped up big time. Tye is a rookie this year, and he wasn't even drafted coming out of college. The last three weeks Tye has recorded 56, 74 and 70 receiving yards, respectively; all of which came during losses. Eli Manning appears to have a good connection with the young rookie tight end. Tye is owned by less than 1 percent of Fantasy Football owners.
2. Brock Osweiler
He may not be prime Peyton Manning, but he's getting the job done so far. Brock Osweiler is now 3-0 as the Denver Broncos starting quarterback with five touchdowns and three interceptions. Osweiler is a former second-round draft pick, and he's seizing the moment. The Broncos take on the Oakland Raiders next week, who have lost four of their last five games. More importantly, the Raiders have the 28th ranked pass defense. Osweiler should be able to take advantage of a weak Raiders secondary and improve to 4-0. If you're having quarterback problems, go ahead and grab him.
3. Jesse James
No, this isn't the old west, but if you're having tight end problems, and you want to take a chance, Jesse James could be your guy. Heath Miller is one of the best tight ends in the NFL, but he has a rib injury. We don't know the severity of the injury, but it was bad enough to keep him out against the Indianapolis Colts. James is still just a rookie, but he did a pretty good job in Miller's place with 30 yards. Ben Roethlisberger has great chemistry with his wide receivers, and you already know the Cincinnati Bengals will be looking to stop Antonio Brown next week. James may be the best short range option.
4. James White
The New England Patriots are hurting right now. It feels like every week they have a new running back carrying the ball. LeGarrette Blount is still ready to go, but Dion Lewis is lost for the year, and it might be time to pick up James White. White is a multidimensional back in the way Shane Vereen was last season. He had an outstanding 115 receiving yards against the Philadelphia Eagles, and you can bet he's going to get some playing time against the Houston Texans on Sunday Night.
5. Scott Chandler
Another Patriots player listed because the starter is out. Rob Gronkowski is most likely out against the Texans, and Scott Chandler is a good backup tight end to have. Obviously he's not "Gronk," but who is? Chandler has a receiving touchdown the last two consecutive weeks, and he now has 259 receiving yards on the season. Even if Gronkowski does decide to play, there's still a very good chance that Chandler will get playing time as Bill Belichick uses the two tight end system quite a bit.
