‘Fallout 4’ Updates: First Patch Drops This Week With Bug Fixes, Decreased Mod Support & More
"Fallout 4" has been a success on all platforms, but Bethesda is still looking for improvement in their best-selling game in the newly-released final first patch for PC. The update for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be released within the week as well, according to a statement from Bethesda.
The developer unveiled the content of the game's 1.2 update, which mostly consists of various bug fixes and optimization tweaks. New features that players will be able to download are the remapping of the number pad keys and Remapping Activate for Quick Container.
According to a report from Game Spot, the patch for PC has been out in beta form since earlier this month. It's something that the players have been waiting for, especially the fixes for issues in terminals, inability to complete the "When Freedom Calls" quest and crashes throughout the game.
While it may be a relief to receive the fixes in "Fallout 4," there are modders who might not be so happy with this new update.
A report from PC Gamer revealed that modding was more difficult with the tweaks Bethesda undertook in this upcoming patch, specifically the new launcher that was designed to disable the mods upon startup. There was a .INI edit that used to work around this certain feature, but it reportedly didn't work in the new patch.
The method to get around it is more complicated as modders need to go back and forth to make the mods workable. Users will need to open the Nexus Mod Manager, launch "Fallout 4," go back to the managing program to enable the mods and then open the game again. Even the "Fallout 4" Script Extender isn't so simple to work around anymore, and reports have said that a few mods aren't working smoothly with the patch.
Bethesda hasn't commented on the decreased mod support at the moment.
In other "Fallout 4" news, a report from Games Radar revealed a Christmas-themed hack to make the desolate Wasteland a holiday wonderland. The trick to bring the Christmas spirit to Diamond City is to advance the in-game calendar to Dec. 25, 2287, or even the year 2288 if players have already zoomed past the date without being in the city.
One of the treats that players can see in the merriest theme of the year is the Jewel of the Commonwealth that's decorated for the holiday season with lights and Christmas trees.
What's your favorite theme in "Fallout 4" so far?
