A new and improved version of the Samsung Galaxy A8 has been unveiled in Japan. The Korean tech giant has been busy rolling out sequels to its Galaxy A smartphones, but this new handset isn't one of them. It's merely a revision of the A8 that was released earlier this year.

According to GSMArena, the updated model has the Snapdragon 615 chipset replaced by Samsung's very own Exynos 5433. It sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory and a 3,050 mAh battery. Android 5.0.1 is pre-installed while native storage can be expanded via a micro-SD slot up to 128GB.

The newer version is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera and five-megapixel selfie shooter. It measures 158 millimeters long, 80 millimeters wide and six millimeters thick. It has the same fingerprint scanning technology and color options as the original A8. The revised variant will be available in Pearl White, Midnight Black, and Champagne Gold.

The Japan-exclusive A8 will release in the country later this month priced at the equivalent of $623, per AndroidAuthority.

The A8 was launched back in July as a mid-range smartphone with decent specs and a wider screen than Samsung's high-end flagships at that time.

According to NDTV Gadgets, the phone is flawless, except for the slightly sub-par TouchWiz interface. The news outlet further notes that the device is perfect for those who are on a budget but still want to experience using a premium phone.

Regarding the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016), Samsung has yet to announce when the sequel will be unveiled. Just a few weeks ago the Korean OEM officially introduced next year's version of the Galaxy A7, A5 and A3.

The A7 sequel comes with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, an octa-core processor that runs Android 5.1 right off the bat, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable native storage, and a 3,300mAh dry cell that supports Fast Charging. Both its 13-megapixel back camera and five-megapixel front-facing unit feature an f/1.9 aperture lens, reminiscent of the Galaxy S6.

The device flaunts a fingerprint scanner capable of Magnetic Secure Transmission. The feature imitates the magnetic strip on payment cards. Interested takers also have the option of getting a dual-SIM variant of the A7.

PhoneArena indicated that the new A5 houses the same aforementioned specs, but it rocks a smaller 5.2-inch screen size and a lower capacity 2,900 mAh battery.

The A3 (2016) share the same camera combo as its siblings. However, it comes in an even smaller 4.7-inch screen with a quad-core Exynos SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage and a 2,300mAh battery. The new A3 does not include fingerprint scanning technology.
