There will be lots of blood, fighting and a bar filled with dead Santa Clauses in the action-packed midseason finale of "The Vampire Diaries."

In last week's episode, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) refused to make peace with his mother Lily "Mama" Salvatore (Annie Wersching) before she took her own life in an effort to kill Julian (Todd Lasance). However, her plan did not work, and Julian continued to live after she died. Now, Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) will be determined to find and kill Julian in Thursday's all-new episode, "Cold As Ice."

"With the holidays in full swing, a search for Julian leads Damon and Stefan to a small town outside of Mystic Falls," the synopsis for the next episode reads, according to CarterMatt. "While managing a holiday toy drive at Whitmore College, Bonnie (Kat Graham) seeks help from Nora (guest star Scarlett Byrne) and the two strike up an unlikely friendship. Elsewhere, Caroline (Candice King) does her best to navigate her new life as a pregnant vampire, while Alaric (Matt Davis) grows concerned that the pregnancy is effecting her more than she's letting on. Finally, after finding himself at odds with Damon, Stefan is forced to take matters into his own hands, setting off a tragic chain of events that leaves their lives changed forever."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Damon is going to play a major role in the winter finale, and he will be featured in almost every scene. The upcoming episode will also include several time jumps that give viewers a glimpse into what life was like for Damon during the Civil War and how he will cope with his mother's death in the present.

A sneak peek video also reveals how fractured the family of Heretics will be following Lily's death. Not only have Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) and Nora separated, but the preview shows that Mary Louise and Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) will bump heads. Valerie shows up to gather her belongings when she runs into Mary Louise, who blames her for her problems with Nora.

"Yeah, if only I hadn't fallen in love and placed my pregnant womb in front of Julian's boot," Valerie says in the clip.

However, Mary Louise points out that the timing of her revealing that about her past is "awfully suspect," even if it is the truth. She only told them once she was back in Stefan's life, when it gained her sympathy, says Mary Louise. In response, Valerie hits her below the belt, telling her that "Nora will blossom" without her.

In another preview video, published by TVLine, Damon and Stefan are seen walking through a town called Sunbury in search of Julian. When Damon notices that he is out of booze, he makes a pit stop inside a local pub for a refill, only to find dozens of slayed Santa Clauses. That leads them to assume that they are close to locating Julian.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 Episode 9 premieres on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
