The "Star Wars" mania is in the air, and Verizon has been behaving like a true fanboy. With "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" just a few days away, the carrier has given away special screening tickets and has launched "Star Wars" Google Cardboards. Now, Verizon has added new "Star Wars" designs to the Moto Maker customization tool.

According to the carrier's official website, customers can fashion their own Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Star Wars Edition through Moto Maker starting this weekend. Buyers of the said smartphone can choose from new front and back colors based on five characters from the latest "Star Wars" movie. These are Rey, BB-8, Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren and a First Order Storm Trooper. Matching wallpapers can eventually be downloaded from an exclusive Google Play app.

The "Star Wars" outfits for the Droid Turbo 2 will be priced similar to the more expensive customization options for the device. The 32GB version retails for $624 or $22 per month for two years. The 64GB version is worth $720, that's $26 on a monthly plan.

Needless to say, employing the Jedi mind trick isn't going to get Verizon to slash off price or send one for free. What customers might win for free is one of 12,000 opening weekend tickets to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." To enter, customers need to head over to Big Red's Theory Wars website, where "Star Wars" fans can discuss their expectations for the movie.

Half a decade ago, Motorola and Verizon rolled out an R2-D2 version of the Droid 2. The handset was loaded with "Star Wars" content and resembled a flattened R2-D2, per PhoneArena. Nowadays, the R2-D2 Droid 2 is no more than a collector's item. Considering "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is just around the block, it wouldn't surprising to see the handset's price getting pushed up by "Star Wars" fans.

Those in the market for the Droid Turbo 2 should know the smartphone sports a 5.4-inch AMOLED screen with 1440 x 2560 display, Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage and a high-capacity 3,630 mAh battery. It is fitted with a 21-megapixel back camera and a five-megapixel front-facing shooter, per GSMArena.

The Droid Turbo 2 has ShatterShield technology which prevents the handset from cracking or shattering when accidentally dropped. However, Motorola representative Dawn McKenzie clarified on NetworkWorld that the smartphone is not meant to survive falls from extreme distances or abusive situations.
