'Mike & Molly' Ends After Six Seasons; What Happens to Melissa McCarthy?
Since the hit CBS show "Mike & Molly" was reported to be coming to an end, several stars of the show reacted and spilled details in the upcoming last episode of the series including Melissa McCarthy, Rondi Reed and Billy Gardell.
The show, which had been running since 2010, will finally come to a close as CBS canceled and even shortened the number of its episodes in the upcoming final sixth season. Reed, who plays Mike's mother Peggy, broke the news on her latest Facebook announcement.
Saddened by the news, Reed wrote on Facebook, "Before you hear it elsewhere (and some already have) this is the Final and 6th Season of MIKE & MOLLY on CBS," she wrote on Facebook last Dec. 10 adding, "It is also a shortened season (13 episodes) after the announced full renewal of 22 episodes back in March by the network. We are done taping as of [Jan. 27, 2016] and I am not sure exactly when/if the episodes will all be aired."

The actress also revealed how it came about with the network's decision. "The network has [its] reasons, and I will not get into a debate, discussion, or campaign to get them to change their minds. Other venues were explored by WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) after CBS announced their intentions, but did not turn up a future for our show. It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks," she revealed.
Furthermore, the show's star, actress McCarthy, also shared her emotions, which she posted on her Twitter account. "I was shocked and heartbroken when @CBS canceled #MikeAndMolly. I would have shot this show for 50 more years. I'll miss my 2nd family," McCarthy wrote.
And now, with everything out in the open, many wonder what will happen to the stars in the show, including McCarthy, who is famous for being the opposite of her co-star Gardell. However, there is still no further mention about what's to come for the famous characters in the show, but what is certain is that "Mike & Molly" is ending.
"We have an order for 13 (episodes) and we have not received any word from CBS that there is life past that 13, so we're looking to have closure here on the series," show creator Chuck Lorre told USA Today.
The hit CBS series ran from Sept. 20, 2010 until their final season, which will premiere on Jan. 6, 2016, Us Weekly reports.
