System Shock 3 is coming. The cyberpunk adventure game has been teased by OtherSide Entertainment and now the hotly-anticipated sequel has gotten official confirmation, according to a report from IGN.

The teaser website, launched a few days ago by OtherSide Entertainment, now offers a peek of what to come with a flash of the text "she's back" and the image of the iconic A.I. dubbed as SHODAN. A link on the page brings fans to a brief survey. While the survey only consists of six easy queries, it's enough to provide some hints of what can be expected from the upcoming game.

One question asked guests on their preferred platform, with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC and Mac given as choices, so old consoles likely won't be getting the new sequel. More significantly, OtherSide Entertainment seems to be gauging the popularity of virtual reality among their fanbase with the last question asking guests to rate their interest in VR gaming.

In a previous report from Eurogamer, it was pointed out that the "prestigious" game will be taken on by OtherSide Entertainment, which is a small company that is funded by Kickstarter money. The crowdfunding was initially set up to produce Underworld Ascendant, which is a sequel to the "Ultima Underworld" franchise that's set for launching in November 2016.

With the Underworld Ascendant in development for the next year tying up funds, it's possible that OtherSide Entertainment is gearing up for a separate crowdfunding campaign for the cult favorite System Shock 3.

Those who have enjoyed the "System Shock" series in the past will note that System Shock 2 creator Ken Levine will not be involved in the upcoming game. He went on Twitter to clear up the rumors saying, "Appreciate all you asking, but I am not involved in any way shape or form with any game with any game reboots, 'System Shock' or otherwise."

Levine is part of the staff of OtherSide Entertainment though, according to a report from Maxim. He works alongside OtherSide founder Paul Neurath, who was also part of the "System Shock 2" team, so there's bound to be good continuity in the upcoming successor.

System Shock was first released in 1994, with the successor System Shock 2 coming out in 1999. Although it's been more than a decade since the last installment, many gamers will likely welcome a new title in the franchise as the Enhanced Edition was well-received earlier in 2015.
