T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge Update: Official Android 5.1.1 Released Via OTA, Brings in Security Fixes
T-Mobile's version of Samsung's latest flagship device received the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update via over-the-air or OTA process.
The latest firmware update, though it's not the Android 6.0 Marshmallow yet, brings in "Google's batch of fixes for December," as posted on GSM Arena, together with a few specific enhancements from Samsung. Furthermore, after updating T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the About Device menu shows a a new entry that read, "Android security patch level."
GSM Arena explained that this entry was first found in Nexus devices currently updated with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This new field in the About Device option could signify that the smartphone contains all the available security fixes and patches, the report noted.
T-Mobile subscribers with Samsung Galaxy S6 should receive the firmware with build number G920TUVS3DOJC via Over-the-Air or OTA update. According to TMO News, the firmware update released for Samsung Galaxy S6 is 68.58 MB heavy.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 became available on April 2015. It has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Under its hood, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is powered by Exynos 7420 chipset paired with 3 GB of RAM. Based on the phone's internal memory, Samsung Galaxy S6 variants available are units with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
