Paramore Parts Ways With Bassist Jeremy Davis
Paramore announced bassist Jeremy Davis has left the band on Monday, Dec. 14.
The rock band fronted by 26-year-old Hayley Williams made the announcement, according to Rolling Stone.
"We've written and rewritten this countless times, and there's just not a good way to put it . . . Jeremy is no longer going to be in the band with us," Paramore wrote in a Facebook statement.
"These last few years have held some of the most fulfilling moments we've had yet... as people, as friends, and as a band," the band continued.
"The Self-Titled era was one that we knew would be important for us but also one we'd eventually have to move on from. In moving forward, there is growth, pain, and change . . . and sometimes the change is not at all what you hoped for. To be honest, this has been really painful. After taking time to consider how to move forward, we ultimately found that we really do believe Paramore can and should continue on. And so we will."
Williams remains the only original member of Paramore since the group's inception in 2004. Current guitarist Taylor York has been with the band since 2007.
This isn't the first time the band has undergone lineup changes. In the past lead guitarist Josh Farro and drummer Zac Farro, who both had a significant hand in forming the group, left the band in 2010. Davis also previously quit the band in 2004 but rejoined six months later after his bandmates convinced him to come back.
There's been no word on exactly why Davis has left the band, but Paramore hints he will be working on his own musical endeavors.
"We're hopeful for Paramore's future and we're also excited for what Jeremy's going to do next. Thank you all for your support and your belief in us," the statement said. "It's kept us going. We will see some of you really soon on Parahoy. If you're not coming on the cruise, we will still see you in 2016."
Paramore will perform next as part of The Parahoy! Festival at Sea cruise, which kicks off on March 5, 2016.
