Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version Soundtrack Released, Penultimate Music Collection on iTunes
The Pokémon Company International has released the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games soundtrack on Apple's iTunes.
The soundtrack to the first set of games from the franchise's fifth generation contains music by Junichi Masuda, Shota Kageyama, Hitomi SatÅ, GÅ Ichinose, Morikazu Aoki, Minako Adachi, and Satoshi Nohara with arrangements by Kageyama, SatÅ, Ichinose, and Adachi.
The music for the Unova region include the various battle themes from characters such as Bianca and Cheren, Team Plasma, and Pokémon League Champion Alder of Unova and Champion Cynthia of Sinnoh. The gym leader and elite four themes are also available along with numerous trainer battles, towns, and city tunes.
Overall, the Pokémon Black & Pokémon White: Super Music Collection soundtrack features 173 songs and can be purchased as a whole for $9.99. If a buyer prefers to buy a one song, at a time, it will be $0.99 each.
The release of Pokémon Black & Pokémon White: Super Music Collection follows the music collection from previous generations and the one succeeding the fifth generation, from Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: Super Music Collection, Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection, Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver: Super Music Collection, Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire: Super Music Collection, and Pokémon Diamond & Pearl."
"Pokémon Black Version" and "Pokémon White Version" were the first Pokémon games of its generation to launch for the Nintendo DS system in 2011, which introduced Unova starters Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig as well as 13 Legendary Pokémon including Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, and Victini, to name a few.
"Pokémon Black and White," upon its first two days of release in Japan, sold more than 2.6 million copies and became the biggest launch of the franchise for its time. By Jan. 9, 2011, the games became the fastest-selling Nintendo DS games to hit five million copies sold. In the U.S., the games sold over 1.08 million copies within its first day of release, which broke Pokémon Diamond and Pearl's sales of 780,000 copies. According to Nintendo, Pokémon Black and Pokémon White's combined sales reached 15.42 million copies by March 2013.
The Pokémon Black & Pokémon White: Super Music Collection soundtrack is the penultimate soundtrack offered by The Pokémon Company International and Game Freak. The last soundtrack that has yet to be available on iTunes are the tunes for Pokémon Black 2 Version and Pokémon White 2 Version. A release date for the last music collection has not been confirmed but likely for May or June 2014.
