While "Transformers 4" was panned by critics and disliked by audiences, it seems Mark Wahlberg will be back for the next installment.

During the premiere to his latest film, "Daddy's Home," Wahlberg told Cine Pop that he would return for "Transformers 5." He said yes when asked about the next "Transformers" film.

At the moment very little is known about the movie and Michael Bay has yet to sign on. According to IMDB the only ones signed on are writers Andrew Barrer and Lindsey Beer. The film is in pre-production, and it is slated for release in 2017. Paramount is keeping the project under wraps especially since the last installment was a box office disappointment.

The fourth installment only grossed $245 million domestically but did well internationally crossing the $1 billion mark. The result was astonishing especially since the film no longer starred original castmates Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox.

Paramount began making "Transformers" movies in 2007. The first installment was the best received garnering three Oscar nominations and making $303 million domestically. The franchise had its financial high point with the second installment which made $402 million domestically. However, reviews for that film were incredibly poor. The movie received one Oscar nomination.

Wahlberg is best known for his work in action films as well as dramas. He was nominated for the Oscar for his work on "The Departed" and later received a Golden Globe nomination for "The Fighter." He recently starred in "The Gambler," "Lone Survivor," "Ted" and "Ted 2." His latest film, "Daddy's Home" stars Will Ferrell and is set to be released on Christmas.

Michael Bay is best known for his action films and for creating some of the most memorable visual effects in modern cinema. He is currently promoting his latest film "13 Hours: The Secret Soldier of Benghazi."
