J.Cole's Five-Part Mini Series on HBO Launched
Famous rap artist J.Cole recently tied up with TV giant HBO for a highly anticipated special concert film, which will be released on Jan. 9, 2016. But even before that, J.Cole treats his fans to a mini-documentary series launched on HBO and Vimeo.
The artist, who released his LP 2014 Forest Hills Drive, revealed that the mini, five-part series on HBO will start today and will be titled "J. Cole: Road to Homecoming," featuring behind-the-scenes footage from his tours.
"These pieces will document some important moments from the a year ago of my life and give you a lot of insight into the album rollout process, each act of the Forest Hills Drive tour, the Dollar and a Dream tour (Friday Night Lights edition), and some ill perspective on the inner-workings of my career and the important people that help make all this shit happen," J.Cole wrote on Twitter along with the release dates of each episode.
The announcement also revealed that the series, which aired today on HBO and Vimeo, kicked off with a 33-minute episode titled "F*ck Money, Spread Love." Chronicle Daily reported that the first episode featured the 30-year-old artist talking with Big K.R.I.T. and even played basketball at one point with his pals.
The rapper in his first episode also showed how he valued his fans by surprising one of them, showing up at her house to play his latest album even before it was released. The mini-series, according to MTV, will also be showing the rapper in a different light.
It will be a personal look on how he works, showing how he shot his music video for "Apparently," meet up with radio program directors and his awe when he found out about the 341,000 album copies that were sold.
New episodes will be available every Wednesday on HBO Go and Cole's Vimeo page, the news agency revealed. However, despite the seemingly free giveaway from J.Cole, the series will be pulled out after every episode, according to The Verge.
Furthermore, the Vimeo versions of each installment will be free for users. However, an HBO subscription is still necessary for fans to be able to watch the "Homecoming" finale, which premieres on Jan. 9.
Excited fans are seen to be with one with the artist as he wrote, "To keep it real, I'm just as excited about the first four episodes as I am the "Homecoming" film," he wrote in his Twitter post.
