Christina Milian Opens up About Being a Victim of Domestic Abuse
Christina Milian is recalling a time in her life when she had to change her phone and move across the country in order to escape an abusive boyfriend.
E! Online reports the "Christina Milian Turned Up" star opened up about her past ordeal during the latest episode of her reality TV show.
"So I was 17 going into 18 and I met a boy, and he had this sarcasm about him that I just thought was super funny," she said.
But things quickly turned serious and deteriorated from there.
"When you're in an abusive relationship, you're fighting for your life every day," Milian added. "It's not just one moment."
Milian told domestic violence survivor Tanya Williams of one instance where she awoke to find herself being kicked and stomped by the same boyfriend.
"It was over nothing," she said. "He accused me of lying about a boy. Then the violence escalated."
But that was far from the end. Milian also recalled having a gun pointed at her in a crazed game of Russian roulette.
"He put one bullet in a gun and pointed it at my face," she said. "When you have a gun in your face, all you can think about is your family and people who love you."
In finally escaping, Milian alleged she moved across the country to New York and had her mom change all her contact information before her flight landed.
Milian recently raised the subject of domestic violence on her show in conjunction with her involvement with a new app called "Stop Attack," where victims can report the violence they're experiencing in their relationships.
The 34-year-old singer also recently split from hip hop boyfriend Lil Wayne in yet another development that proved messy for her.
Not long ago, Milian took to social media to rant in a post presumably meant for Wayne, "Stop telling me you love me. Stop asking me to come see you. I most definitely not interested."
