Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox Now Dating? New Romance Brewing Between ‘Friends’ Co-Stars
Matthew Perry and Courtney Cox go way back, and it seems that the former co-stars have decided to move forward together as well. The "Friends" on-screen couple are reportedly taking their romance off-screen -- a decade after their iconic sitcom.
According to a report from Women's Day, the news was first spotted in an issue of Star magazine. Newly single Cox is said to have found comfort in her close friend Perry after ending her engagement with musician Johnny McDaid.
The pair is known to be close friends in real life even after "Friends" ended its run in 2004. Distraught after her split from her former beau, Cox reportedly reached out to her pal and it ended up finding something more than friendship from the bachelor.
"It's no surprise that Matthew was one of the first people Courtney called after Johnny left her," a source told Star in the report. "They've leaned on each other before -- during her infertility struggle and his battle with addiction."
The insider added, "Matthew invited her over to talk one night, and they ended up hooking up!"
If the events sound familiar, it's probably because their onscreen counterparts Chandler Bing and Monica Gellar ended up together in similar fashion in "Friends". In the show, the characters sought comfort from each other and ended up in bed after sharing some drinks during Ross' wedding in London.
Still, while fans may be picturing a beautiful wedding ala Monica and Chandler -- and perhaps twins too -- Cox and Perry aren't in a rush to tie the know. In fact, the alleged couple are waiting before defining the relationship.
"There isn't any pressure to put a label on it yet, but they're excited to see where this might go," the source added.
It's likely the 51-year-old actress needs some time to recover from her recent breakup before jumping into a serious commitment. After all, Cox was said to be shocked by McDaid's decision to break up with her and has been taking it hard.
"He just decided he wanted to separate," another source told Hollywood Life, after sharing that the couple has been undergoing counseling. "He hasn't really given a reason, but mainly said he wants to focus on his music and can't take the fighting. She is really depressed about it ... extremely upset about. She truly is just miserable about it."
Meanwhile, Perry has been single since his breakup from Lizzy Caplan back in 2012.
