Dallas Cowboys vs New York Jets: NFL Saturday Night Football Schedule, Predictions, Stream & Preview
Even on Saturday night, we football fans get to watch our beloved NFL. The Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets will play each other in a big game as both teams are still trying to secure a playoff spot.
Dallas Cowboys (4-9)
The Cowboys offense has been pretty bad this year ranking 30th in points and 28th in yards. Jason Garrett's squad has only managed to win one game without Tony Romo this year, and last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers brought their record to 4-9. Matt Cassel hasn't found that chemistry with Dez Bryant, and he's throwing far too many interceptions. His interception at the one yard line last week cost the Cowboys the game.
It's been a disastrous season for the Cowboys, but they're actually still in. Not a single team in the NFC East has a winning record, and it's time for the Cowboys to start winning primetime games. A win this weekend would give the Cowboys a 5-9 record. If (and that's a big "if") the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles all lose, the Cowboys are only one game back for the division lead with a win.
Darren McFadden is having a productive season. His 798 rushing yards so far is the second most in a season in his career. Still, Cassel has to start making smarter plays.
The Cowboys will play the Buffalo Bills next week.
New York Jets (8-5)
Despite not having their projected starting quarterback, the Jets are flying high this season. With Darrelle Revis back in town, the Jets defense ranks fifth overall in yards allowed. The Jets are riding a three game win streak with wins over the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans and Giants.
As it stands now, the Jets are the No. 6 seed in the AFC holding the second wild card spot behind the Kansas City Chiefs. The New England Patriots are atop the AFC East, so it looks like the Jets best shot at the postseason a wild card spot. This is a big game because if the Jets lose and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos, then the Steelers will become the No. 6 seed with the Jets falling out of a playoff spot.
Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker have proven to be a solid wide receiver combination. This season Marshall and Decker have a combined 2,062 yards and 20 touchdowns. The Cowboys don't have a great pass defense, and Ryan Fitzpatrick should be able to move the ball against them.
The Jets will play the Patriots next week.
Schedule
The Cowboys and Jets will play each other on Saturday night at 8:25 p.m. EST on the NFL Network. The game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. You can watch a live game stream here.
Prediction
The Cowboys obviously need this win more than the Jets, but Cassel hasn't shown he can handle being the starter. The Cowboys rank dead last in turnovers forced while the Jets defense has found way to get extra possessions. This should be a low scoring game with the jets coming out on top.
Jets win, 23-20
