Self-Drying Jacket: 'Back to the Future II' Newest Marty McFly Item to Become a Reality
A self-drying jacket, the same one that Marty Mcfly wore in "Back to the Future II" is now a reality. A start-up company named Falyon took the initiative to recreate the futuristic jacket and it earned many supporters.
Falyon Wearable Tech posted its proposal to make the jacket on Kickstarter, a site where artists, designers and other creatives can get their projects funded to turn them into reality. The company's target goal for the fund raising is $12,000 but still with eight days left before it ends, supporters already pledged more than $13,000.
The jacket has been named SDJ-01 and it has many features that no one would imagine could be fitted in a jacket. Firstly, it has built-in high pressure air amplifiers which is responsible for drying the clothing piece in mere 30 seconds. However, in case the jacket gets too soaked in water, then it will take longer to dry out.
The SDJ-01 is battery-powered and the drying process is activated after pressing a button. Batteries will run out in 30 minutes but it is rechargeable.
Falyon Wearable Tech further explains how the drying of the jacket works: "The air amplifiers function in the space between the jacket's exterior and the inner lining. This serves to keep the high pressure air circulating in an enclosed space, maximizing the drying capability. This also ensures that the jacket dries from the inside out so the layers closest to your skin and clothes dry first."
The company stated that the jacket is ideal for rainy days, spills and simply cooling off. It also listed some added features that are beyond just the drying capability and this includes:
8 pockets - two for hand-warming, four utility pockets, one for tablet storage and one for smartphone
Fabric - Made from the highest-quality fabric for comfort and durability
Technology - Advance technology on parts and superior craftmanship
Charging - cable is included in the package
Stressing that their hi-tech jacket is all original and top class, Falyon Wearables wrote "The jackets themselves are 100% our original design, but we were not kidding when we say we use the highest quality materials. We didn't want to drop names, but our supplier does indeed manufacture material for the GAP (among other brands), so our jackets are of similar quality."
Lastly, the company reiterated the originality of their creation by challenging those who doubt its authenticity by saying: "We do want to emphasize that this jacket is completely original and you cannot get it anywhere else. If you still doubt us, we challenge anyone to find this jacket anywhere else in the world. Or you could save yourself the trouble, because it doesn't exist anywhere but right here, exclusively on this Kickstarter."
