Marc Anthony Set to Honor Bill Clinton as Humanitarian Through Maestro Foundation
Marc Anthony's Maestro Foundation is slated to honor former President Bill Clinton with its 2016 Global Humanitarian Award.
The award will be presented at the Maestro Cares third annual "Changing Lives, Building Dreams" festivities. Billboard magazine reports Anthony is also slated to perform at the Feb. 16, 2016, black-tie gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
In making the presentation, Anthony will be joined by music promoter Henry Cardenas. The event will also honor TracFone Wireless President and CEO F.J. Pollack with the organization's Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
"It's a privilege to officially announce this year's honorees and celebrate their tangible and meaningful contributions to our society," Anthony said in a statement. "I am honored to have the opportunity to recognize their leadership and their commitment to help and empower disadvantaged children around the world."
About a month after that, the foundation is on track to open a home for over 70 orphaned girls in Toluca, Mexico in partnership with Telmex Foundation and Casa Hogar Alegria, its fourth project for youth in Latin America.
Earlier this year, the foundation also broke ground on its fifth project in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Other homes are now being erected in La Paz, Bolivia and Guadalajara, Mexico.
The February black-tie dinner in New York will be hosted by Latin radio personality Enrique Santos.
It's a busy time of season for the 47-year-old Anthony, who recently launched Magnus Sports as part of his building media empire. Jennifer Lopez's ex has already signed flame-throwing MLB reliever Aroldis Chapman as his first client and has big plans for the operation.
"Baseball, like music, is an ingrained cultural passion for many Latinos throughout the world, and there's no shortage of amazing stars of Hispanic origin," Anthony said in a statement. "Despite that, until now there hasn't been an enterprise specifically designed to meet their needs. With Magnus Sports, we are changing the existing dynamics and building a new kind of Management Company that understands the culture and knows how to build big media brands."
