Latinas are on the rise all across social media, with stars such as Selena Gomez, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez rating as some of the most popular on all the web.

According to Vocativ, overall the group rates as the most prominent demographic among 2015's Top 20 Twitters users, with Gomez and Shakira accounting for 41 percent of world's most followed females.

In addition, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Lovato landed among the world's 20 most popular Instagram users. Meanwhile, Gomez emerged as Instagram's second most popular user, up from 12th place in 2014, while Shakira gained the world's second largest Facebook audience and the majority of the platform's most popular non-white users, regardless of gender.

Overall, a recent Pew Research Center study proves that Latinos have the highest percentage of America's Facebook users, and are tied with African-Americans at 30 percent for the for most active representation of Twitter users, some 8 percent higher than non-Hispanic users.

Besides simply keeping fans abreast of their comings and goings in the world of entertainment, many Latina celebrities are now also using their various platforms to alert followers of the latest developments on several social fronts. Each of Shakira's Facebook posts about poor children's rights to education regularly generate thousands of comments and shares.

From top to bottom, Gomez is saluted as the most influential Latina on social media, followed by Shakira, Lopez and Lovato. On Instagram alone, the "Come Get It" singer boasts more than 56 million followers. Meanwhile, Shakira's Facebook followers stand at 104 million, and Lopez's 33 million Instagram followers place her 15th on the list overall, some five spots ahead of Lovato at 25 million followers.

Research also shows celebrities alone are not accounting for the entire rise among Latinas on social media. Venezuelans relied heavily on social media to counteract government censorship during the historic election last week.

The Vocativ article also mentions Ariana Grande as one of the more popular people on social media, though the website wrongfully lists her as a Latina.
