Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat: Preview, TV Schedule & Where to Watch
The Detroit Pistons are looking to go up 2-0 in the season series against the Miami Heat when they visit the American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night. The Pistons defeated the Heat last Nov. 25 at The Palace of Auburn Hills 104-81.
Andre Drummond had a great first game against Miami as he had 18 points and 20 rebounds with two steals and five blocks while Reggie Jackson also scored 18 points to go along with four boards and seven assists. Gerald Green led the Heat in that game with 16 points and five rebounds while Hassan Whiteside registered a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.
Both teams are coming into the game as winners of four out of their last five games. Detroit are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with a 16-12 record while Miami come second at 16-10.
The Pistons are victorious in their last game on Friday, outlasting the Chicago Bulls in quadruple overtime 147-144. It was just the second four overtime game in Bulls history while it's the first for the Pistons.
Drummond had 33 points, 21 rebounds, three rebounds with two steals and two blocks before fouling out in the fourth overtime. Jackson added 31 points and 13 assists while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 17 points, hitting two clutch 3-point shots. He hit one three to tie the game with 36 seconds remaining in the second overtime.
"I'm more happy than tired right now, but I'm sure when I get on the plane, you probably won't hear a word out of me," Drummond said after the game.
The Heat are coming off an 116-109 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday at home. Miami used a second half rally led by Chris Bosh who had 29 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Hassan Whiteside added 22 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and five block shots with Dwyane Wade chipping in 18 points and seven dimes in just 27 minutes of actions. Point guard Goran Dragic was ejected for the first time in his career after receiving two straight technical fouls in less than three minutes during the third quarter.
"It was harrowing in the second half. But I liked us showing some mental stability and competitive toughness while things weren't necessarily going our way," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Brandon Jennings will be available against the Heat after playing one game with the Pistons D-League Affiliate on Saturday. Jennings has been out since Jan. 24 when he tore his left Achilles tendon. Tip-off in Miami will start at 7:30 p.m. ET and you can watch the game via the NBA League Pass. It is also available locally on FS-SUN and FS Detroit.
