Fifth Harmony Reveal How They Celebrate Holidays, Talk Latino Dishes
Fifth Harmony will be finishing off 2015 at home with their families and indulging in their favorite Latino dishes for the holidays.
In an interview with Popsugar, released on Dec. 21, the pop group discussed their plans for how they will celebrate the holidays at home with their families and revealed their favorite dishes and traditions.
Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello and Ally Brooke Hernandez, whose families hail from Cuba and Mexico, respectively, all take part in traditional Latino festivities.
"For me personally, I love when we have family get-togethers, especially for Christmas Eve," said Hernandez. "We have a ton of homemade Mexican food that you can't get anywhere else. We have so many family members and friends inside the house just partying, drinking, and having fun. Hot cocoa, eating -- it's incredible."
For Jauregui, it's the traditional Latino holiday food that is on her mind. The singer revealed that her family usually enjoys a big lechón, a pig roasted in a pit, and plenty of other Latino dishes.
"My other favorite is platanos maduros -- they're like fried plantains -- and moro, which is just rice and beans, and yuca. And that's what we eat! Just a bunch of cuban food for Christmas -- and flan for dessert," Jauregui said.
Dinah Jane Hansen and Normani Kordei may not be Latinas but food is just as important in their festivities, especially when it is made by their grandmothers.
"I'm Polynesian so my grandma makes the best 'otai, which is like a tropical drink. It's like shredded mango, coconut milk, loads of sugar, and ice," Hansen said.
Kordei's family sticks to more traditional Christmas foods, like eggnog. The singer swears that her grandmother's is the one to beat.
"My grandma makes the best eggnog. And I know that seems pretty simple, but she just really puts her foot in it - not literally!" she said.
Fifth Harmony recently participated in iHeart Radio's Jingle Ball 2015, a holiday themed tour that partners with various radio stations around the country brings popular music stars to fans.
According to Teen Vogue, at the Jingle Ball concert in New York City, the group performed their own rendition of "Silent Night."
