Jack Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) will have a hard time accepting the fact that a bomb has left him paralyzed when the midseason premiere of "Bones" airs next year.

The winter finale of "Bones" ended with a shocking twist, when an explosion sent Hodgins and Aubrey (John Boyd) to the hospital. Shortly thereafter, viewers discovered that the bomb caused catastrophic damage to Hodgins' spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed, while Aubrey was able to recover without any severe injuries.

During an interview with TV Guide, Thyne opened up about how his character will cope with paralysis and the struggles he will face in the second half of the season. According to the actor, it will take Hodgins a while to come to terms with being wheelchair-bound.

"I think Episode 11 is a [sic] almost like a false sense of acceptance because he believes, 'Well, this is temporary,'" the actor said. "Starting with Episode 12 and beyond is when he really, suddenly starts going through the stages of depression, and anger, and frustration. What starts happening is he's literally pushing everyone away, and it's pretty hard for the team, because someone they love is really angry and aggressively pushing them away."

Fortunately, Thyne teased that Hodgins will likely learn to make the best of his circumstances.

"If and when we get to see Jack get to acceptance stage with his current situation, he will definitely have some fun, but he really does have to get there and I don't know how many more opportunities we're going to have," Thyne said. "Do we have 10 more opportunities or do we have an entire new season after this?

A definitive date has not been set for the midseason premiere, but executive producer John Collier said fans should expect the series to return sometime in March or April, reports TVLine
