'GTA Online' DLC: 'Festive Surprises 2015' Patch Brings Holiday-Themed Outfits, New Adversary Modes
Rockstar Games recently introduced the "GTA Online" Festive Surprise 2015 update, featuring Christmas mask, Santa Claus outfits and new Adversary Modes.
Festive Surprise 2015 is live now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It will continue to get the "GTA 5" community in the holiday spirit until Jan. 5, per the developer's official news website.
Players can now pick up a variety of holiday-themed skins such as Santa outfits and snug pyjamas. There are new masks like Mr. and Mrs. Claus, Festive Luchador, Bad Elf and Crazy Gingerbread. Festive threads from prior years are available too, including the snowman mask, the reindeer antlers as well as elf jackets and shoes from the 2013 holiday gift pack.
In terms of scenery, the new update plants a ton of Christmas trees in Los Santos. They can be found near apartments, stilt houses and even in yachts. Three Christmas-themed car horns have also been added. Some should pair nicely with the customization options brought by the "Lowriders" update. Read more about it here.
Festive Surprise 2015 isn't just about looking merry and bright as Rockstar also threw in several new gameplay perks. While Los Santos is experiencing snowfall, players can engage in friendly snowball skirmishes. New Adversary modes have been added though the gaming studio didn't go into full detail regarding what they were all about.
December appears to be a very busy month for "GTA Online" as the last free content arrived just last week. The "Executives and Other Criminals" DLC classified players as VIPs or bodyguards.
Rockstar Newswire mentioned that players can earn precious RP and in-game cash by participating in these new Adversary modes:
- Hostile Takeover: An unknown package is detained in a restricted area, and organizations compete to collect and deliver it to a specific location.
- Asset Recovery: Organizations are sent to SPD stations to recover impounded vehicles while cops and other players try to destroy their vehicles.
- Piracy Prevention: Players defend their assets on board a luxurious Super Yacht against attacking players and Seasharks.
- Executive Deathmatch: VIP players are given ten lives in a Deathmatch-style battle against rival organizations.
- Most Wanted: All players in the organization are hit with a 5-star wanted rating. The last player standing wins the challenge.
- Market Manipulation: Players race from store to store in a hold-up spree to collect as much money as they can. The player with the most money at the end of the challenge wins.
- Auto Buyout: Players steal and deliver as many vehicles as possible. Every vehicle has a specific value displayed. The player with the highest total value of vehicles delivered wins.
Rockstar is hard-pressed on consistently distributing updates for "GTA 5" to keep the game fresh and relevant, but the developer is unlikely to provide more content on last-gen consoles, per GameSpot.
