Benjamin Bratt has joined the cast of Lee Daniels' "Empire" spin-off.

Remezcla reports the acclaimed actor is slated to play a tough-luck music agent on Fox network's untitled pilot, starring alongside Queen Latifah. The show is billed as a musical drama focusing on the struggles of an up-and-coming girl group, to whom Latifah serves as a mother figure.

Meanwhile, Bratt's character is hoping their rise up the charts will offer him a chance to resurrect his own stalled career. Nicholas Gonzalez is also confirmed to star in the pilot, which appears to still be in early development.

It's a busy time for the 52-year-old Bratt, who is also set to star in the Netflix satirical comedy "Special Correspondent" and the Bold Films production "Shot Caller."

On the Netflix show, Bratt plays the nemesis to Eric Bana's radio journalist character, who fakes front-line war reports while comfortably sitting at home. In "Shot Caller," he stars as Sanchez, a member of the L.A. County Sheriff's Gang. Bratt's character is so determined to make a career bust, that he follows a newly released prison gangster directly into his world of crime.

Early next year, Bratt is also slated to star alongside Kevin Hart, Ice Cube and Tika Sumpter in "Ride Along 2," in which he plays a ruthless drug lord, whom the two unorthodox lawmen have set their sights and hearts on bringing to justice.

Bratt was last seen on network TV in 2014 as station chief Steve Navarro in Season 9 of Fox's "24: Live Another Day." He is perhaps best known for his starring role as NYPD Detective Rey Curtis on the NBC drama series "Law & Order."

A graduate of Stanford, the 39-year-old Gonzalez is known for his roles in such projects as "Jane The Virgin," "The Flash" and HBO's "Resurrection Boulevard."
