It's not the most glamorous Thursday Night prime time game, but it'll do. The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders will duke it out in a little AFC West battle. Neither team is going to make the playoffs this year, but it's usually fun to watch these two squads go at it.

San Diego Chargers (4-10)

What a disappointing season it's been for the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers have now missed the playoffs five of the last six seasons. What makes this ending so sad for Chargers fans is, this could be the very last season for the Chargers in San Diego. The Chargers, like the St. Louis Rams and Raiders, have been in constant relocation rumors to Los Angeles.

Outside of Philip Rivers, there haven't been many bright spots this year for the Chargers. The Chargers offense ranks 25th overall in scoring and dead last in rushing. At least the Chargers will have a really good draft pick this offseason. There's so many areas in which the Chargers must improve upon to surpass the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos in the AFC West.

The Chargers lost to the Raiders in Week 7, 37-29. The Chargers secondary hasn't been terrible, but their defensive line isn't putting enough pressure on the quarterback to stop opposing drives. The Raiders don't have the most dynamic offense, but they did light up the Chargers in the last meeting. The Chargers are just 1-5 on the road this year.

The Chargers play the Broncos next week.

Oakland Raiders (6-8)

For the 13th consecutive season, the Raiders will not make the postseason nor will they even have a winning record. The Raiders clearly aren't a playoff caliber team yet, but they are improving somewhat with a young and talented roster. Like Chargers fans, Raiders faithful is also fearful that their team could leave for Los Angeles in the near future.

Quarterback Derek Carr has proven to be a good second round draft pick. He has thrown 30 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions this year with an impressive 93.5 passer rating. Amari Cooper is having a phenomenal rookie season with over 1,000 receiving yards. You could very well make the case that Cooper is the Offensive Rookie of the Year this season, even ahead of Todd Gurley.

The Raiders haven't been able to put together a big win streak this season. The most consecutive games they've won this year is just two. Their victory over the Broncos two weeks ago was impressive, but they followed that up by losing to the Green Bay Packers, 30-20. Oddly enough, the Raiders actually have a much better record when playing on the road this year instead of at home.

The Raiders play the Chiefs next week.

The Chargers and Raiders will play each other on Thursday night at 8:25 p.m. ET on the NFL Network. The game will be played at O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California. You can watch a live game stream here.

Prediction

The Raiders are the team trending upwards. The Chargers have so many holes on both sides of the football, and there's a good chance the Raiders are just going to flat out outscore the Chargers in this one. Hopefully we'll get an exciting game that goes down to the wire.
