Renee Zellweger Talks 'Bridget Jones's Baby' and Her Highly Criticized new Look
Renee Zellweger is back as Bridget Jones in "Bridget Jones's Baby!"
Renee Zellweger reprises her role as Bridget Jones which endeared her to many viewers. Helen Fielding's character added luster and fame to the talented actress' career when "Bridget Jones's Diary" was first shown in 2001.
"Bridget Jones's Baby" is the third installment from the "Bridget Jones" franchise and recently, Renee Zellweger opened up about the changes that happened to her character after the sequel "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" came out in 2004.
Daily Mail reported the beautiful actress dished that Bridget Jones, who is now 43 years old has not changed much. "Bridget Jones's Baby" focuses on her pregnancy despite being single. What's more, she's not so sure of who the father of her unborn child is.
She revealed, "I think that's her essence, really. All of us do things in our personalities that we don't outgrow."
"I like that she tells what it's like to be a woman in these really relatable situations. It's so right to tell a story about Bridget in this stage of her life," as per Entertainment Weekly.
Fans of Bridget Jones have been pumped up and excited about her return in "Bridget Jones's Baby," however, her comeback was marred with her new look for which she was highly criticized.
Showbiz insiders can recall that when Renee Zellweger stepped out last October 2014 in a Hollywood event by Elle Magazine Women, she was sporting a different appearance which caught the world by surprise.
Critics have since mercilessly ridiculed Renee Zellweger's new look. Some have accused her of undergoing excessive plastic surgery while there were some who said she just aged poorly.
Despite the public highly criticizing her new look, the 46-year-old blonde did not let it affect her at all. Instead, she said it assisted her having "less fear."
In an interview with EW wherein she appeared on the latest cover together with Colin Firth who is back as Mark Darcy and "Grey's Anatomy" alum Patrick Dempsey as dished by E! News as Mark Qwant, "a hot new billionaire," Renee Zellweger said, "What good comes from knowing that something like that happened? Less fear. Sure."
The Texas native continued that she has never actually read any of the remarks against her different face and that she got support from associates and friends who emailed and texted her.
Renee Zellweger's "Bridget Jones's Baby" hits theaters on Sept. 16, 2016.
