'Better Call Saul' Season 2 [Spoilers]: Jimmy to Create the Spine of the Show
"Better Call Saul" will be back on AMC for its second season. Promotional materials were already released, one of which is a photo of Jimmy Mc Gill and Mike Ehrmantraut [Jonathan Banks] inside the elevator. Though the season would not hit the TV screens until February 15 of next year, the series creators already dished out a few major details on what the fans would expect for the upcoming season as per IBT's report.
One of the scenes that gathered the fans attention was a shot of Jimmy and Mike standing inside the elevator together, while another photo revealed a faint smile on Jimmy's face as he sits on his chair feet up. The team is already done filming the show's second season thus spoilers are already making their way into the headlines.
For the second season, the show runner, Peter Gould, dished out some spoilers that fans would anticipate for the series' season 2. Gould told Yahoo TV that Jimmy [who is portrayed by Bob Odenkirk] will be the spine of season 2 as the series would revolve around his character.
"I think the biggest single decision was to let Jimmy's character create the spine of the show. It means that we ended up with a show, Season 1 and Season 2, which is totally unpredictable."
He then added that he's happy with the fact that the audience are satisfied with the outcome of the first season despite the fact that the whole season 1 went through a series of bumpy rides.
"In Season 1 especially, there were some episodes that were so dark and some that were so light. They were right next to each other. That was something that scared us, but I'm so glad that we proceeded with that. I'm even happier that the audience went along with us on the ride."
In addition to the series' details, he stated that the "tone" of the "Better Call Saul" played a major part in terms of its success. Gould then told Yahoo TV that the team decided to let the characters lead the story, which ended up with a positive outcome.
"I think we really let the characters shape the story, that was just one of the pleasures of doing this kind of television: you can watch the scenes and learn about the characters from watching the actors. By doing that, we learned that there was a lot more to Chuck than we initially thought. We also learned that Jimmy, as played by Bob... None of us would be here if Bob hadn't said yes back in Season 2 of 'Breaking Bad' when we offered him the role. If anybody else had been cast, I don't think we'd be talking right now about this. Bob has a vulnerability as Jimmy. This is a guy who can be heard. We went with that. I think that vulnerability is part of the reason why people take to him the way they do."
