Sony will reveal its list of free games coming in January 2016 this week for PlayStation Plus members, but it probably won't happen until Wednesday, at least.

In PlayStation's increasingly last-minute style (at least for this year), the list of titles that will be available free for download from the PlayStation Store on Tuesday Jan. 5, 2016, won't be made public until late in the week just prior -- but it seems we'll know at least before the clock counts down, ending the year.

That's according to PlayStation Lifestyle, which asked Fred Dutton last week -- PlayStation Europe Blog Manager and go-to guy for monthly announcements of the new PS Plus free games list -- when the company would release the PlayStation Plus free games list for January 2016.

His reply? "Things can change right up to the wire, so I'm reluctant to give a firm date. But at present... the intent is to have the news for you mid-next week."

Seemingly confirming Sony's now-habitual last-minute timing of the PS Plus free titles for January 2016: Last Tuesday's two posts on PlayStation's blog.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the final PlayStation Store update of 2015," read the post announcing the final PlayStation Store update for the year, while its holiday message noted "thing swill be a little quieter than usual here on the PlayStation Blog over the next week or two."

In contrast, last year PlayStation released its free games list for December 2014 and January 2015 by early November. This year, the last Wednesday of the month has become the habitual release date for the next month's free games list, but it is possible that PlayStation could delay the announcement further.

This past November, for example, Sony remained mum on the PS Plus free games list until the second-to-last day of October -- only to have the list preempted by a Dutch game retailer's errant tweet the day before.

There has certainly been a lot of buzz and a lot of guesses as to which titles will be available for free on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita come early next year, but nothing is known for certain yet.

Hopefully another accidental leak will provide some answers soon, especially if PlayStation drags the announcement on much further. But check back with Latin Post shortly, since PlayStation could announce the PS Plus January 2016 free games list, itself, very soon.
