The Dallas Cowboys were officially eliminated from the post-season race last week after a loss to the New York Jets. The Cowboys are one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season after high expectations, but owner Jerry Jones won't make any drastic roster changes coming into next year.

"We're in relatively good shape under the salary cap, and we ought to look at that and change things. Now don't say that that's the highlight of the day. Things are changing because they were going to change anyway. There's at least 20 percent of this roster that changes every year and maybe higher. And so there were going to be those kinds of changes," Jones told 105.3 The Fan via ESPN.

Dallas' main problem this season was injuries to its major players including wide receiver Dez Bryant and starting quarterback Tony Romo. Bryant missed a few games with a fractured foot while Romo suffered a broken left collarbone twice this season.

According to the team's official website, Bryant did not play in last week's loss against the Buffalo Bills and is scheduled to undergo more tests for his surgically repaired foot, possibly ending his season. He is also nursing ankle and knee injuries that have affected him the entire year.

As for Romo, he is pondering the possibility of having a plate attached to his collarbone via surgery to prevent future injuries, as reported by Sports Illustrated. The 35-year-old quarterback won three of his four starts this season with his backups going 1-10.

Jones added that the Cowboys have enough of the right pieces to compete in 2016 as long as Romo stays healthy and a proper backup is found.

"It's obviously going to be a high priority for us, the backup situation, as it relates to not only being able to come in and do better than we did this year, but whatever way, whatever we do, do better, but we're looking to our future. That's as big a thing for me," the billionaire said, as quoted by 247 Sports.

The Cowboys have not drafted a quarterback since 2009 when they selected Stephen McGee in the fourth round. They also have not selected a quarterback in the first round since Troy Aikman in 1989 while also drafting Steve Walsh in the first-round of the compensatory draft the same year.

Dallas has the possibility to land a top-5 pick in next year's NFL draft and the team will probably select a quarterback. The best available quarterbacks for the Cowboys that are in the top five of mock drafts are California's Jared Goff and Memphis' Paxton Lynch.
