2016 Toyota Highlander Review: Read About Toyota's Mid-Size SUV Price, Specs & MPG
The 2016 Toyota Highlander is the latest mid-size SUV from the Japanese car maker that offers the perfect mix of performance, value and convenience.
In a report by ABC News, the sports utility vehicle is available in a seven or eight seater, with the base price starting at $30,890.
The base model is equipped with a four-cylinder engine, with the top variant comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that costs $34, 795. Both model runs on gasoline.
A hybrid model is also available. Aptly named "Highlander Hybrid," this variant costs a staggering $48,770, but offers the most impressive mileage rating for an SUV because it has a recorded number of 27 miles per gallon in city driving, with 28 MPG on highways.
On the other hand, Kansas City News reported that the V6 variant has a mileage rating of 18 MPG for city and 24 MPG for highway.
The gasoline-electric hybrid variant is fully loaded, while the lower models offer buyers the chance to pick features they want in the vehicle, without sacrificing the budget. But that does not mean it is short in features, as all Highlanders comes standard with a back camera and eight air bags.
The latest SUV from Toyota is also the perfect family vehicle because it garnered a five-out-of-five stars rating in the U.S. government crash tests and also has the "recommend buy" ranking at the Consumer Reports magazine. In addition, the SUV's reliability was also praised and was called "better than average."
In fact, Mercury News reports that it's currently the number 2 mid-size SUV in America right now, with sales up more than 10 percent now, compared from a year ago.
It's also quite roomy, even compared to other vehicles in its class. Even with all seats occupied, the 2016 Toyota Highlander still has 13.8 cubic feet of space to spare behind the third row, which can be used to store groceries or other cargo.
And as an added safety feature, the vehicle is also great to drive even in bad weather, due to its all-wheel drive and traction control. Road bumps will seem like mild vibrations and maintains its composure, even when taking sharp curves and turns.
But despite its family-friendly image, the SUV's design is not too shabby because it's also good looking and the interior is also covered in luxurious leather seats.
The 2016 Toyota Highlander really embodies the modern SUV. Rugged and good looking, but also safe and family friendly.
