FIFA 2014 World Cup Dates, Schedule, Groups and Ticket Purchase Information: Ticket Prices for Some Countries in Excess of $1000
The 2014 FIFA World Cup, the largest sporting event in the world, will be held on June 12 to July 13 this summer in Brazil. Brazil first hosted the event in 1950, when Uruguay won. The FIFA 2014 World Cup will have 64 matches and will be played in 12 cities of Brazil. The World Cup Finals will use goal-line technology for the matches for the first time. The world is eagerly awaiting this event and to see if Spain will retain its title.
The tournament consists of eight groups of four teams each.
-- Group A consists of Brazil, Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon.
-- Group B consists of Spain, Netherlands, Chile, and Australia.
-- Group C consists of Colombia, Greece, Cote d'Ivoire, and Japan.
-- Group D consists of Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, and Italy.
-- Group E consists of Switzerland, Ecuador, France, and Honduras.
-- Group F consists of Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, and Nigeria.
-- Group G consists of Germany, Portugal, Ghana, and USA.

The first match starts on June 12 and the last match before the second round will take place on June 26. The second round will take place over the course of the next four days culminating in the quarter-finals in which only 8 teams will remain. The quarterfinals take place on July 4 and 5 and the semifinals take place on July 8 and 9. The final takes place on July 16.
The tickets sold through the World Cup website have all been bought out, meaning that or those fans who want to attend but have no yet purchased a ticket the second market is the only option. Good news for U.S. soccer fans as Forbes reports that Brazil, Argentina and Mexico "are the only three countries with an average price above $1,000. After that, Iran and Croatia are next closest at $905 and $904, respectively, while defending World Cup Champion Spain only has an average price $753. The USA are actually below the Group Stage average, coming in at $653 while Costa Rica has the lowest average ticket price at $446."
