Who is the Best 'American Idol' Winner? 'AI' Host Ryan Seacrest Picks Carrie Underwood Over Kelly Clarkson
Ryan Seacrest was asked to pick who among the previous "American Idol" winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood he thinks is the best during an appearance on the "Today" show on Tuesday. The "American Idol" host confidently blurted out Underwood's name.
Seacrest was asked who he thinks from the two stars have made great musical history since winning the "American Idol." Without qualms, the host said on his appearance on NBC's "Today" show that he finds Underwood as the "biggest star."
When asked what about Clarkson, Seacrest admitted that yes, "Kelly too." However, he got back to his previous answer and explained why he thinks Underwood is the best "American Idol" winner.
"But, you know, I was just on New Year's with Carrie, and she's just a superstar. She really is. So I take Carrie," he said, referring to Underwood's performance at the "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" event last week.
According to The Hollywood Life, Underwood wowed the audience with a medley performance of some of her classic hit songs including "Before He Cheats" and "Smoke Break." Seacrest was there to witness her star power since he was hosting the annual event, which took place on Dec. 31 at the Times Square in New York City.
During his guest appearance on the "Today" show, Seacrest also talked about his tenure as host to the "American Idol." The singing talent show competition will reportedly mark its final season on Jan. 7. The thought of the show finally ending since its first run in 2002 somehow made the "American Idol" host feel nostalgic.
"I can't imagine life without going on the auditions every summer, and then doing the shows, you know, for months afterwards," he told the hosts over at the "Today" show.
However, Seacrest added that he is also looking forward to what the end of the show would bring for him. The host admitted that he may need to find something else to do when the final season of "American Idol" ends in May.
Both Underwood and Clarkson are stars in their own right. They both have made a name for themselves in the music industry.
Following her victory on the fourth season of the "American Idol" in 2005, Underwood has gone on making award-winning music and has also become a multiplatinum-selling artist. Clarkson, on the other hand, also boasts numerous song titles and music albums under her name since becoming the first "American Idol" winner in 2002.
