Spider-Man 2 and X-Men Movie Rumors: Does Post Credit Scene Mean There Might be a Marvel Crossover?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2. Brought to us by Sony Entertainment, Spider-Man 2 will be "doing the Marvel" and giving us a post credit scene. So what's so special about this post-credit scene? It's an X-Men scene!
After you have watched the highly awaited Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring; Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, you get to see Jennifer Lawrence. The post credit scene will feature J.Law as Mystique taking on the military forces of Josh Helman's William Stryker with the help of Lucan Till's Havok and Evan Jonigkeit's Toad. So now that we totally ruined that surprise for you, we have something else to tell you.
"The Hollywood Reporter points out that said scene does not point to any future crossover." The reason for the X-Men post credit scene was simply because there wasn't any other superhero footage relating to Spider-Man that was prepared to be shown and this was also a great way to promote the upcoming X-Men film. THR reports, "Collaboration between Sony and Fox was actually primed by the presence of Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb; Webb had an existing contract with Fox that he was allowed out of to helm the Sony project on the understanding that the latter studio would assist in promotion of Fox's X-Men property, essentially structuring the framework for this new partnership before either side had the idea of sharing a scene between movies."
Sorry for the people speculating that this might have been it, the big crossover between Fox and Sony super heroes. But no, it's all business and at the end of the day they are competitors. It would be fantastic to see all of the comic's superheroes come together in a butt kicking film, but how would film houses top that? But hey, you never know, one day you all might get to have that ultimate nerdgasm you all crave so badly... maybe (by maybe, I mean not likely).
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be in theaters on May 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past will premiere on May 23. Watch the AMC commentary below for more on the X-Men post credit scene.
