Bristol Palin’s New Baby Daddy Confirmed? Ex-Fiancé Dakota Meyer Claims He's Sailor Grace’s Biological Father
Bristol Palin's paternity drama seemed to be over as the rumored father of her second child, Dakota Meyer has finally gone public by asking for joint custody and child support. While Palin has proudly announced her second pregnancy in June, she has neither revealed nor confirmed the identity of her baby's father.
Despite Palin's silence about her baby daddy, there have been strong assumptions that her ex-fiancé, Meyer, is the dad. And now, the 27-year-old Medal of Honor recipient is fighting for his rights as Sailor Grace's biological father. According to TMZ, Meyer has petitioned an Alaskan court in a filing on Monday that he's the dad of Palin's daughter. He is also seeking joint custody of her as well as child support. Unfortunately, Bristol's mom Sarah is reportedly unhappy with Meyer's claims.
"For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Meyer and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol's pregnancy or the baby," the former vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Entertainment Tonight. "Paramount to the entire Palin family is the health and welfare of Sailor Grace."
Sailor Grace's grandmother also added that Meyer is attempting to "save face." While Bristol's rep, David Martin also addressed Meyer's legal filing.
"My values are such that a real American hero doesn't ask for child support," Martin said.
Meyer's lawyer in Anchorage, Alaska, on the other hand, told the Associated Press that the former Marine wants to be part of his daughter's life. He even posted a picture of Bristol's daughter on Twitter on Dec. 24 with a caption, "Best Christmas present ever!! I couldn't be more proud of this little blessing."
"Meyer and Palin had a relationship and were engaged to be married until May 2015," the lawsuit filed in Alaska read. "Meyer believes that he is the biological father of the minor child."
Meyer requested child support in accordance with Alaska law. He also requested the right to claim the child as a dependent for income tax purposes on alternating years.
Meanwhile, Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer were set to be married in May 2015 on his Kentucky farm. Unfortunately, the couple broke up just weeks before the wedding. And a few weeks later, Palin revealed she was pregnant, but never identified the father.
Bristol Palin is no stranger to custody and child support battle, Los Angeles Times noted. In fact, she and her ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston, who is the biological dad of her 7-year-old son Tripp, recently had a court appearance in Palmer, Alaska to sort out their unending issues on their custody battle agreement.
