Latina Gets Even With Starbucks Barista Who Used Her Credit Card for $212 Grocery Shopping on New Year’s Day
A cashier from Starbucks California has lost her job after being busted for stealing her customer's credit card info to go on a shopping spree.
According to customer Juana Martinez, she has ordered coffee at the establishment the previous day when the barista had been suspiciously taking a long time alone with her card. When Martinez found out that her account was charged with a mysterious $212 worth of Ralph's groceries, she then put the pieces together.
In the video, which has been viewed for more than 3.1 million since Sunday according to Newsmax, Martinez returned to Starbucks' drivethru window and confronted the 19-year-old cashier, Chanel.
She claimed that she got the girl's purchase on Ralph's supermarket caught on surveillance video. And she also told the girl that she has already contacted the local police and Starbucks corporate headquarters regarding the issue.
"So we got you on camera yesterday at Ralph's for $212, so just know that the cops are coming up here," Martinez told the cashier in her video.
The teenage cashier appears to be stunned at first, trying to defend herself. But after a while finally confessed and apologized for what she did. She also tried to offer Martinez money in exchange of what she had stolen and pleaded for her not to press charges.
"I'm sorry that I took money from you and your kids," the employee said. "I'm sorry that you had to come up here. I'm sorry that this is inconvenient for you ... I am a good child. I swear I am really good. I really do go to school. I'm 19. I play soccer."
Starbucks told KTLA that it is already aware and troubled by what happened between the cashier and Martinez.
"We were extremely troubled to learn of this incident, and we have been working directly with the customer to address this situation," the spokesperson of Starbucks said. He also added that the company values their customers' trust, and what happened was completely unacceptable. The company promised that it will support the local authorities for any investigation. "At this point, I can confirm that this partner (employee) no longer works for Starbucks."
"You come to Starbucks to get coffee, not to get robbed!" Martinez said.
Martinez reportedly chose not to press charges against the girl after learning that she has been fired. She also believes that the online shaming she did to her was already enough as a punishment.
