Justin Timberlake's record label is being sued by members of a 1970s R&B group alleging the hit song "Suit & Tie," which Timberlake produced with Jay Z, illegally used samples from a tune once produced for the group by James Brown.

TMZ reports the group Sly, Slick and Wicked charges Universal Music Group paid to sample the song, but never gained the legal rights to also use vocal performances from the 1973 hit "Sho' Nuff."

The group is now suing, arguing they did at least some of the singing for the tune but were never compensated for it. The band members also contend they were never paid for a deal Universal brokered with Anheuser-Busch for the song to be used in a Bud Light commercial.

Overall, "Suit & Tie" reportedly sold more than three million copies and attracted some 92 million views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, several media outlets have recently reported Timberlake is now signed to write and perform songs for the upcoming DreamWorks animation film "Trolls." In addition, Timberlake is also set to serve as the voice of one of the characters and serve as executive music producer on the project.

Over his career, Timberlake has produced 16 Top 10 hits on the Billboard 100 and is a nine-time Grammy and four-time Emmy Award winner.

"I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event [and] couldn't be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks' 'Trolls,'" Timberlake said. "This film is very special, the music is going to be very special and I can't wait for everyone to experience it all."

The 34-year-old Timberlake is married to actress Jessica Biel and the two have a young son together. Timberlake has also starred in such films as "Bad Teacher," "Friends With Benefits" and "In Time."
