Hacker Claims to Have iOS 9.2.1 Jailbreak
Apple is still in the beta version of iOS 9.2.1, but one hacker says he has already created a jailbreak for the operating system.
Luca Todesco, better known by his Twitter handle @qwertyoruiop, is boasting that he has already successfully jailbroken iOS 9.2.1, iClarified reports.
Todesco has posted several screenshots of the Cydia program running iOS 9.2.1 on his iPhone 6 to Twitter. The hacker has been pestered by his followers asking when it he will release the solution. He has responded that he will not release it to anyone until all of the bugs are fixed.
Todseco might be keeping the jailbreak to himself for now, but he could end up sharing his findings with other jailbreak teams like Pangu and TaiG. Pangu or TaiG could then work to get a full iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak tool available to the public.
Todesco has been successful in the past with previous jailbreak tools. He contributed to Pangu's iOS 9 jailbreak, which was released last year, but Apple was able to patch up the iOS 9 jailbreak with the release of iOS 9.1. Todesco also worked on an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak after the iOS 9 jailbreak was already released.
To prove that he has been successful in jailbreaking iOS 9.2.1, Todesco posted a screenshot of his source code.
TaiG has also been working on an iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak and might soon have a jailbreak tool available. Todesco said he is not sure if TaiG has discovered the same exploits that he has found.
If the iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak is ready for release, the hackers will have to wait until the full version of iOS 9.2.1 is released to the public. Apple just released the second beta of iOS 9.2.1 earlier this week.
The only known working jailbreak is for iOS 9. The jailbreak community warns that if users upgrade to iOS 9.2, their devices will no longer be jailbroken.
