The People's Choice Awards 2016 took place on Jan. 6 at the Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater. The live broadcast was hosted by Jane Lynch who opened the show by inciting big laughter from the audience as she parodies the unforgettable Steve Harvey's Miss Universe gaffe.

She pulled off the comedic skit with a little help from actor Thomas Lennon and a woman who looks like Miss Colombia, Fox News Latino reported.

On the stage, prior to presenting an phony award to Lennon, the "Glee" star said, "We're trying something new this year. This year, People's Choice Awards has picked one entertainer who, for whatever reason, has never won a People's Choice Award but who we believe is deserving of one."

Then she goes on to announce the winner saying, "And this year, the award goes to the actor and comedian extraordinaire, star of 'The Odd Couple,' ladies and gentlemen, Tom Lennon!"

The actor naturally accepted his award but while delivering his speech, he was cut off by Lynch and delivered the punchline: "I'm sorry. I have to apologize here. First runner-up is Tom Lennon. The winner is Miss Colombia!

As the audience burst laughing the actress made the gag more fun with her apology: "Listen, it's my fault, I didn't bother to come to dress rehearsal and man, I just read the card wrong."

Meanwhile, "Furious 7" topped that awards night by winning the "Favorite Movie" award. Vin Diesel accepted the trophy and delivered an emotional speech as he pays homage to co-star and best friend Paul Walker. "The Big Bang Theory" was also a big winner for taking the "Favorite Network TV Comedy" for four years in a row.
