Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio released a new campaign ad named "Football" on Friday morning where he talks about his affinity for the all-American sport just in time for the NFL playoff weekend.

Rubio shows off his football skills in effort to engage voters in the ad, which is set to hit airwaves during the first round of NFL playoffs in early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. The GOP presidential candidate also admits that he was more nervous about playing in his first big game in college than his first debate in the 2016 presidential primary race.

"More nervous before first presidential debate or first college football game?" asks the announcer off camera.

"I was more nervous before my first college football game, because you were actually going to get hit," replied Rubio, who attended Tarkio College in Missouri for one year on a football scholarship.

The Florida senator also poked fun at himself and his infamous water gulping speech in the 60-second ad.

"Most important preparation for a big game or big speech?"

"Make sure there is water nearby -- like right now," said the former football player as he catches a bottle of water.

At another point in the ad, the proud football super-fan makes note that he is married to former Miami Dolphins cheerleader, Jeanette Rubio. Rubio adds he has picked the Miami Dolphins to win the Super Bowl for the last 40 years.

According to national polling averages compiled by RealClearPolitics, Rubio is currently in third place in national polls and in Iowa, falling behind both GOP front-runner Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. However, in New Hampshire he is in second place, right behnd Trump.
