Pamotran Films' latest movie, "Los Domirriqueños," combines veteran comedians from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic for a fun and hilarious take on Latino culture and the ongoing disagreements between the two Latino groups.

According to the film's official Facebook page, the Spanish-language film was directed by Eduardo Ortiz and stars several popular Puerto Rican and Dominican film and television stars.

The film features comical performances by Jorge Pabon ("Qué Joyitas!"), Fausto Mata ("Detective Willie," "Todo Incluido"), Tony Pascual ("Sanky Panky," "Perico Ripiao"), Aquiles Correa ("Sanky Panky"), Stephany Liriano and Antonio Sánchez, a Puerto Rican television and radio host better known as "El Gangster."

The film, written by Ortiz and Miguel Alcantara, is set in Puerto Rico in a fictional town where Boricuas and Dominicans live together.

When the owner of the poor community passes away, a businessman named Hugo, played by Danilo Beauchamp, plans to take over the area and get rid of a beloved basketball court. To keep their town the way it is, the Dominicans and Puerto Ricans need to put their differences aside to play a basketball game against Hugo and his professional team.

The comedy ensues when the main characters must put their egos aside to learn to play basketball, which they struggle with greatly, in order to save their town.

While the film, which was released on Dec. 3, 2015, has yet to receive an international release, its success in the Dominican Republic and in Puerto Rico may help it gain popularity among Latinos in the U.S.

According to Cinelandia USA, the film has seen great box office success, currently ranking as the second most watched film in Puerto Rico after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Those who couldn't get enough of the film will be happy to hear that a sequel is already in the works from the studio, reported AlMomento.net.

Pabon revealed that the sequel is still in the very early stages of planning, but that it will be possible because of the support the first film received.

"The response of the people here kept us in suspense, but the reaction in the Dominican Republic was an additional challenge," Pabon said. "When we conducted the premiere in Santo Domingo people asked who was the mollusk and out of the film everyone wanted to be photographed with us. It has an additional value because it is not our market."

The film has also made history by becoming the highest grossing movie in Puerto Rican history. "Los Domirriqueños" has grossed over $1.8 million, beating out Daddy Yankee's "Talento de Barrio," which grossed $1.6 million.
